Specialist Pharmacist – Dispensary (Permanent, Full‑time)

About the role

Join St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney as a Specialist Pharmacist in the Dispensary, providing high‑quality pharmacy services across outpatient, ambulatory, inpatient and day‑only care settings. This permanent, full‑time position involves clinical support, dispensing and medication supply in line with professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical support, dispensing and medication supply across multiple care settings.
• Manage Pharmacy Dispensary operations, including medication distribution, workflow coordination and continuous process improvement.
• Oversee Schedule 8 and Schedule 4D medicines – distribution, stock control, documentation and discrepancy investigations.
• Lead, supervise and educate early‑career pharmacists, technicians, students and support staff.
• Deliver accurate drug information and education to pharmacy, medical and nursing staff, patients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to procedural reviews, education programs, practice‑based research and patient‑centred service improvement.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA pharmacy registration with no scope restrictions and eligibility under the Health Employees' Pharmacists (State) Award for Grade 2.
• Ability to provide weekend and on‑call out‑of‑hours service as per roster.
• Demonstrated experience in drug and therapeutics committee processes, formulary management and quality use of medicines.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Proven problem‑solving and clinical decision‑making abilities in a busy environment.

Required skills

• Management of Schedule 8 and Schedule 4D medicines.
• Formulary management and implementation of related policies.
• Provision of drug information and education.
