Specialist Family Violence Hub Practitioner

About the role

The Specialist Family Violence Hub Practitioner will join Berry Street’s Western Specialist Family Violence Service within The Orange Door in Ballarat. This role focuses on risk assessment, safety planning and connecting victims, survivors and children with the support they need.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive family violence risk assessments using tools such as CRAF or TRAM.
• Develop and implement safety plans for victims, survivors and children.
• Engage with clients via phone, face‑to‑face at the Hub and outreach appointments.
• Manage referrals from police, self‑referrals and partner services.
• Provide information on legal support, justice pathways and contemporary risk‑assessment guidance.
• Coordinate access to specialist services and maintain a system‑wide view of client outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification meeting mandatory minimum standards.
• Recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience working with victims, survivors and their children.
• Strong understanding of the gendered nature of family violence.
• Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Families Act 2007 and the Family Violence Protection Act 2008.

Required skills

• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Proficiency in conducting risk assessments (CRAF, TRAM).
• Ability to apply contemporary risk‑assessment tools and guidance.

What we offer

• Full‑time or part‑time (0.8 FTE) fixed‑term contract until April 2027 (parental‑leave cover).
• Base salary $110,000 pro‑rata plus superannuation and salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum.
