Senior Family and Youth Support Practitioner

About the role

The Department of Children and Families is seeking experienced practitioners to deliver statutory and non‑statutory welfare services for children, youth and families in the Greater Darwin region. The role focuses on improving safety, stability and life outcomes through a child‑centred and family‑focused approach.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct support and case management to individuals, groups and communities.
• Assess and respond to statutory and non‑statutory welfare needs.
• Develop and implement intervention plans that promote safety and stability.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies and community partners.
• Maintain accurate records and produce required reports.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in child, youth and family welfare services.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the values and objectives of the Department of Children and Families.

Required skills

• Case management and assessment techniques.
• Knowledge of statutory child protection legislation.
• Report writing and documentation.
