Software Test Engineer

About the role

Compass, a global school management platform supporting over 5,000 schools, is looking for a Software Test Engineer. The role ensures products meet high standards of quality, performance and reliability, and suits someone who enjoys finding patterns, breaking down complex challenges and turning observations into actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain test cases, environments and scripts for new and existing features.
• Execute manual and automated testing across web, iOS and Android applications.
• Perform system, regression and end-to-end testing with tools such as Applitools Preflight and BrowserStack.
• Conduct API testing (Postman, GraphQL) and performance testing.
• Identify, document and track defects, collaborating with developers to resolve them.
• Contribute to automation frameworks and help define quality metrics with product and engineering teams.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of hands-on automation testing experience.
• Programming knowledge in C#, React or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with test management platforms and agile workflows.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with good organisation and resilience under pressure.
• Valid Employee Working With Children Check, a satisfactory National Police Check and proof of unrestricted work rights in Australia.
