Software Technical Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Software Technical Lead to head a mobile development team at Qantas’ new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide. The role combines technical leadership with hands‑on iOS and backend development to deliver high‑quality, scalable digital solutions that meet customer needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mobile developers, fostering collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Architect, design and build production‑grade iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, Async/Await, Swift Concurrency and related technologies.
• Guide the development of backend services (Node, Java, Spring/Spring Boot) and integrate with databases such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle from planning and design through deployment and maintenance.
• Work closely with product managers, designers and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver features aligned with business goals.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and AI‑assisted development workflows, applying best practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges to ensure application stability and reliability.

Required profile

• Proven technical leadership experience with the ability to motivate and mentor engineers.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building and supporting large‑scale, business‑critical applications in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of mobile app development and delivery processes.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of iOS development best practices and emerging technologies.

Required skills

• iOS development with Swift, SwiftUI, Async/Await, Swift Concurrency, Swift Package Manager and Push Notifications.
• Backend development experience with Node.js, Java, Spring or Spring Boot.
• Database experience with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Designing testable software and implementing automated testing strategies.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development workflows.
