Software Engineer - PhotonAssay Systems

About the role

Chrysos combines science and software to deliver technology solutions for the mining industry, including its flagship PhotonAssay system for atom-counting analysis of gold and other high-value metals. Reporting to the Software Development Team Leader, the Software Engineer develops the software that runs the PhotonAssay systems, which manage large data sets, provide user and engineer interfaces and enable local and remote control and fault-finding. The role also contributes to the development, testing and implementation of software for new products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high-quality, clean and testable software giving users access to and control of PhotonAssay systems, including the underlying infrastructure.
• Give practical software engineering input to the team leader and others to develop conceptual designs for new products.
• Maintain documentation, code review, testing, quality assurance and source code management procedures in line with industry best practice.
• Assist in the set-up and commissioning of new products and provide ongoing support for production units.
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, technical excellence and staff learning and development.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in a software engineering subject, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years' experience in a software engineering role, including design and implementation of complex technical applications.
• Demonstrated experience developing full-stack applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including preparing technical documentation and manuals.
• Experience writing and maintaining tests, and working in a Linux environment.
