Australian Payments Plus · Sydney
Job description
About the role
Australian Payments Plus is hiring a Software Engineer for its ConnectID team, which is changing how identity verification works in Australia. You will design, build and maintain secure, scalable and reliable software that powers the digital ID verification infrastructure, using Java, Spring Boot and React with applications hosted on AWS.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document and maintain software components and APIs that meet business and customer needs, following agreed architecture, design patterns and security standards.
- Work with Product and other stakeholders to define requirements, then design, build and test software solutions.
- Contribute to the design of larger applications and services, documenting interfaces and evaluating design options.
- Develop and maintain manual and automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) and integrate testing into continuous delivery.
- Maintain code quality through secure coding, refactoring, code reviews and clear documentation.
- Improve delivery through CI/CD and automation, configuring development environments, infrastructure-as-code and engineering tools.
- Use AI-powered development tools to support coding, testing, refactoring and documentation, and validate their outputs.
- Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, QA and Operations teams to resolve issues and deliver production-ready solutions.
- Support customer onboarding and integration by troubleshooting technical issues with external customers.
Required profile
- 3+ years of software development experience with a modern language such as Java, TypeScript or C#.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building and maintaining software components and APIs, and writing automated unit and integration tests.
- Experience using agentic AI development tools, including prompting and reviewing generated outputs.
- Experience in agile, cross-functional teams and clear communication with stakeholders.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews, merge conflicts).
- Highly regarded: AWS, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, OpenID Connect (OIDC) or digital credentials APIs.
Applications are submitted directly to the company; the Talent Acquisition team aims to respond within two weeks. The company does not partner with recruitment agencies for this role.
