About the role

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join its Brisbane‑based Retail Grocery Engineering team. You will help design and build large‑scale, high‑performance services that shape the grocery shopping experience for millions of customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design new systems that operate at a global scale and own the implementation of new components.
• Build and evolve backend services that are highly available, low‑latency, and extensible.
• Collaborate with UX design teams to create intuitive customer interfaces.
• Work across multiple teams globally, leveraging AWS services to develop cloud‑native applications.
• Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with data‑privacy regulations.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and mentor teammates to maintain high code quality.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
• Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience delivering complex software systems to customers is a plus.
