About the role
HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for a friendly Social Volunteer to visit a gentleman once a week for one hour. The man enjoys gardening, sharing tips and stories, and playing Briscola, the popular Italian card game. As an English- and/or Italian-speaking volunteer, you will help him stay socially engaged and build a meaningful friendship.
Key responsibilities
- Visit the gentleman for one hour each week, on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday between 10:00am and 5:00pm, or fortnightly, working around your availability.
- Share conversations about gardening, play Briscola, and simply enjoy a friendly chat.
Required profile
- A friendly nature and a willingness to listen.
- Ability to connect with others; no special skills are needed.
- 18 years or older.
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
