Social Visitor Volunteer – Eastgardens

About the role

HammondCare is looking for a friendly volunteer to visit an older woman living independently in her own home in Eastgardens. She enjoys staying active in her local community but would like a regular visitor to share companionship, conversation and friendship. As a volunteer you might chat over tea or coffee, talk about cooking and family traditions, share an interest in crochet or other hobbies, and reminisce and exchange stories.

Key responsibilities

• Make weekly or fortnightly visits to the resident's home in Eastgardens, for one hour, between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Sunday.
• Keep visits on the same day and time each week to build a consistent friendship.
• Share conversation, stories and companionship; no special skills or experience are required.

Required profile

• A minimum 6-month commitment.
• Kind, reliable and patient, and enjoys connecting with others.
• 18 years or older.
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.

The role is focused on building a quality, consistent friendship and is not suitable for work experience, student placements or placement requirements. Interested applicants are contacted by phone or text, or by email if contact by phone is not possible.
