Social Visitor Volunteer – Aged Care

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for friendly, compassionate volunteers to spend one-on-one time with elderly residents in a residential aged care facility in Padstow Heights. The scheme aims to reduce loneliness and build connections between older people and volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Visit residents Monday to Friday, in flexible sessions of 30 minutes to 1 hour, either 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm.
• Share a gentle walk in the garden, play bingo, share coffee in the courtyard, have a warm chat, or simply sit together and be present.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• A national volunteer police check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• No special skills needed; kindness, patience and a listening ear are enough.
• Open to students, retirees, professionals and anyone with time to give.
