Social Media Producer

About the role

Seven West Media is looking for a motivated, creative social media producer who understands how to make a story stand out. Working across The Nightly, The West and Perth, the role sits at the intersection of news, storytelling and platform strategy, turning newsroom stories into content that performs across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and beyond. It is a hands-on production role for someone with substantial social savvy who can move fast when news breaks.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with reporters, editors and the digital team to plan and produce daily social content across the mastheads, adapting stories, video and graphics for each platform's audience and format.
• Source, write and publish posts across multiple social media platforms, and use social media for story discovery and promotion.
• Produce engaging video content for digital platforms.
• Support editors in guiding the content on social media each day and identify stories likely to perform well.
• Produce high-quality social cards using Adobe Express.
• Represent the company professionally and courteously, and keep up to date with technology and digital trends.

Required profile

• Journalism degree and proven experience in the media industry.
• Strong work ethic, initiative, literacy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously under high pressure.
• Flexibility for a seven-day newsroom, including weekend shifts and late hours.
• Valid Australian work rights.

Required skills

• Knowledge of different social media platforms and their distinct audience needs.
• Adobe Express for social cards.
