Site Manager – 12‑Month Contract (Potential Permanent)

About the role
Mossop Construction + Interiors is seeking an experienced Commercial Site Manager for a 12‑month contract based in Renmark, South Australia, with strong potential to become a permanent position. Reporting to the Construction Manager and receiving day‑to‑day direction from the Project Manager, you will own the site from pre‑commencement through to commissioning, handover and practical completion.
Key responsibilities
- Represent Mossop professionally with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, maintaining regular contact to align construction activities with functional requirements.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the project contract, drawings and specifications.
- Set out works (and verify others’ set‑outs), coordinate materials, labour, subcontractors and deliveries, and drive daily progress against the programme.
- Supervise site labour and subcontractors for quality, presentation and behaviour; promptly escalate any programme or quality risks.
- Conduct regular site inspections, manage Inspection‑Test Plans and hold points, and ensure quality benchmarks are met.
- Run regular subcontractor meetings, produce agendas and minutes within 48 hours, and keep accurate site records (diaries, RFIs, instructions, plant/equipment registers).
- Monitor and enforce safe work practices in line with company HSE policy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, mentor junior site personnel and ensure compliance with QA/HSE systems.
Required profile
- Extensive experience as a Commercial Site Manager delivering major commercial projects.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office and construction management platforms such as HammerTech or Procore.
- Solid understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) and related standards.
- Trade background and/or Certificate IV in Building & Construction (highly regarded).
- Proven leadership, excellent communication and issue‑resolution abilities, high organisational skills and the capacity to plan, programme and forecast work effectively.
- A strong work ethic, sense of urgency and values aligned with Mossop’s culture.
