Shift Electrician (Operator/Maintainer)

About the role

BlueScope's Western Sydney Service Centre is looking for a Shift Electrician (Operator/Maintainer) for its Electrical Maintenance team in Erskine Park. The role sits in the Australian Steel Products portfolio, which has six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla, and involves working on the newest paint line with modern equipment and automated processes. It suits experienced industrial electricians and those from commercial or residential backgrounds wanting to build experience in industrial automation and control systems, with training and development available.

The position works a 12-hour rotating day and night shift, 5 days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Operate machinery and production equipment safely to maintain continuous line performance
• Conduct equipment and process inspections, identifying issues and equipment not performing to standard
• Provide technical support and problem-solving to keep equipment functioning reliably
• Fault find on PLC, drives, data networks, HMI and instrumentation systems
• Work with cross-functional teams to improve equipment efficiency and ensure quality products meet customer expectations
• Contribute to a safe working environment and continuous improvement

Required profile

• Electrical trade qualifications and a current NSW Electrical Licence
• Demonstrated experience with technical equipment (PLC, drives, HMI, networks) in fault-finding, root cause analysis and recommending corrective measures
• Experience in a similar environment in industrial manufacturing
• Ability to prioritise work, resolve problems and work in a fast-paced environment
