SHE Manager SA/NT/TAS

About the role

Metcash is looking for a SHE Manager to cover South Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania, working across its Food & Liquor operations, including distribution centres and retail sites. The role partners with operational and site leaders to strengthen SHE culture, improve governance and compliance, manage critical risks and help deliver safer workplaces. It is described as a highly collaborative position combining practical SHE expertise with coaching, influence and strong stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Food & Liquor leaders across SA, NT and Tasmania to strengthen SHE culture, performance and compliance.
• Coach leaders on critical risks, incident and injury management, control verification and broader SHE matters.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Metcash SHE Management System, site plans and documentation.
• Lead risk management activities, including assessments, inspections, hazard management and critical control verification.
• Monitor incidents and injury trends, support investigations and share learnings.
• Support SHE audits, improvement plans, training, emergency response planning and due diligence activities.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Safety, Health & Environment or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience in a SHE support role, ideally within logistics, warehouse or retail environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian SHE legislation, including heavy vehicle and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
• ICAM investigation training or certification, and the ability to build safety capability with operational leaders.
• Proactive, pragmatic and collaborative approach, with strong organisation and decision-making skills.
