Service Technician – Hydraulic Specialist

About the role

Workforce Extensions Ballarat is recruiting a Service Technician on behalf of Hydrautech, a hydraulic specialist serving Ballarat and the surrounding region for over 30 years. The role starts in the workshop alongside experienced technicians, learning the company's systems, customers and equipment, then moves into mobile service across regional Victoria. It is a secure, full-time position with an hourly rate of AUD 38-45 depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Workshop work: hydraulic hose manufacture, hydraulic cylinder rebuilds, pump, motor and valve repairs, hydraulic diagnostics, preventative maintenance, pressure testing, equipment commissioning and general workshop repairs.
• Mobile service: attend customer breakdowns, diagnose hydraulic and mechanical faults, carry out on-site repairs and preventative maintenance, and commission equipment.
• Help customers minimise downtime and build long-term relationships.

Required profile

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner or another suitably qualified tradesperson.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and enjoyment of solving technical problems; previous hydraulic experience is highly regarded but not required.
• Quality workmanship, strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability, and confident communication with customers and colleagues.
• Current driver's licence is essential; forklift, HR, working at heights, confined space, welding or fabrication licences or experience are viewed favourably.
