Service Leader (Early Years) – 12-Month Fixed Term

About the role

Mallee Track Health and Community Service is recruiting a Service Leader for its Early Years service at Ouyen Child Care Centre. The role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the service, including ensuring a safe, nurturing, inclusive and high-quality environment that supports children's development, families' needs and staff wellbeing, while meeting all regulatory and policy requirements. It is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position reporting to the Early Years Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strong, positive leadership to educators and supervise the day-to-day operations of the service
• Lead and coordinate emergency procedures in collaboration with the Early Years Manager
• Rearrange staffing to maintain correct ratios, for example when an educator leaves early due to illness
• Follow all responsibilities of the Nominated Supervisor role
• Respond to and redirect complaints and grievances from staff and families
• Report staff incidents and feedback in VHIMS
• Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of the service quality improvement plan (QIP) and educational programs
• Mentor and support trainees and ensure staff complete required online training

Required profile

• Bachelor of Early Childhood Education preferred
• Current driver's licence, current Working With Children Check and current police check
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to navigate difficult conversations

Required skills

• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor staff
• Knowledge of the National Quality Standards and VEYLDF
