Senior Water Resources Engineer - Relocate to Townsville!

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team in Townsville. You will provide technical input on complex drainage and flood engineering projects across major infrastructure sectors, shaping design approaches and delivering high‑quality, compliant outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver drainage designs, stormwater management plans and hydraulic assessments for local council and major infrastructure projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modelling using tools such as Civil 3D, 12D, TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, RORB, XP‑Rafts and WBNM.
• Develop innovative solutions to drainage, flooding and water‑quality challenges while ensuring compliance with Australian standards.
• Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance and support quality assurance across project teams.

Required profile

• 5‑15+ years of experience in drainage/flood modelling and design.
• RPEQ registration or ability to apply for RPEQ.
• Proven experience delivering major infrastructure projects in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 12D and Civil 3D.
• Experience using hydraulic modelling software such as TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, RORB, XP‑Rafts, WBNM.
• Knowledge of QGIS or ArcGIS for spatial analysis.
