Senior Water Resources Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer with expertise in drainage and flood modelling to join its multidisciplinary team. The role will involve delivering complex drainage and flood engineering solutions for major infrastructure projects across road, rail, defence, aviation, energy and large‑scale developments.

Key responsibilities

• Technical delivery of drainage designs, stormwater management plans and hydraulic assessments for local council and major infrastructure clients.
• Provide specialist input using software such as Civil 3D, 12D, TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, RORB, XP‑Rafts and WBNM.
• Mentor junior engineers, support project teams with technical guidance and ensure compliance with Australian standards.
• Engage with clients, regulators and stakeholders to deliver trusted technical advice and contribute to work‑winning activities.

Required profile

• 5‑15 years of experience in drainage/flood modelling and design delivery.
• Recognised engineering qualification; RPEQ preferred or ability to apply.
• Proven experience on major infrastructure projects within a consulting environment.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and commercial awareness.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 12D, Civil 3D, TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, RORB, XP‑Rafts, WBNM.
• Experience using QGIS or ArcGIS for spatial analysis.
• Technical capability in underground and surface water drainage systems.
