Senior Water Network Technician (Sydney)

About the role

Aqua Analytics is hiring a Senior Water Network Technician based in Sydney, NSW. Most of the work is in the field, leading, supervising and carrying out acoustic leak detection surveys, deploying monitoring equipment and delivering water loss reduction projects for NSW utility and council clients. The role involves mentoring junior staff and acting as a people leader, with some travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out acoustic leak detection surveys on pressurised water networks using the latest technology from leading global brands
• Install and maintain IoT monitoring devices on water and wastewater pipelines
• Report network defects to clients using field platforms, GIS tools and works management systems
• Set up and optimise District Metered Areas (DMAs) through minimum night flow analysis, boundary valve checks and high-usage customer investigations
• Support project planning, documentation and delivery coordination
• Maintain your own HSEQ compliance in the field using digital compliance tools
• Act as the company's face on site, working directly with clients

Required profile

• Hands-on knowledge of water distribution networks and how they operate
• Experience in acoustic leak detection, or a strong technical foundation with a willingness to learn
• Comfortable working in a small team and leading discussions with operators, engineers and senior management
• Willingness to travel and spend time away from home
• Ownership of their work, able to work without close supervision
