Senior Underwriter, Fleet

About the role

IAG (CGU), a leading commercial, rural and personal lines insurer, is hiring a Senior Fleet Underwriter for its Intermediated Insurance business. The role takes ownership of complex Motor Fleet accounts, builds trusted broker relationships and drives profitable growth through customer-focused underwriting decisions. It is a permanent position based in Meanjin (Southbank, Brisbane).

Key responsibilities

• Lead the underwriting and management of complex Motor Fleet accounts, including large clients and managed fund portfolios, with a focus on sustainable growth.
• Build strong relationships with brokers and key customers to create long-term partnerships and an excellent service experience.
• Assess complex risks and set pricing, terms and coverage while balancing customer outcomes and portfolio performance.
• Coach and support underwriters and assistant underwriters by sharing technical expertise and practical insights.
• Work with distribution partners and internal stakeholders to grow the portfolio and deliver business results.
• Share market insights and ideas to contribute to underwriting strategy.

Required profile

• Experience underwriting Motor Fleet risks or closely related commercial insurance portfolios.
• Confidence managing complex accounts and making sound decisions in dynamic environments.
• Strong relationship-building skills with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to influence outcomes through clear communication, negotiation and commercial thinking.
• A collaborative approach, curiosity and a drive to improve processes and customer experience.
