Senior Tax Accountant – Remote (Australia)

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Tax Accountant to join a forward‑thinking firm based in Townsville while working 100% remotely from anywhere in Australia. You will act as the primary contact for a diverse portfolio of SME clients, high‑net‑worth individuals and trusts, delivering clear tax advice and strategic guidance.

Key responsibilities

• End‑to‑end management of a varied client base, including SMEs, high‑net‑worth individuals and trusts.
• Preparation and review of complex financial statements, income tax returns and business activity statements.
• Provide tax planning, restructuring and cash‑flow management advice.
• Mentor and review work of intermediate and junior accountants.
• Utilise Xero and other cloud‑based accounting ecosystems to streamline workflows.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years experience in an Australian public practice firm.
• Current Australian residency with full working rights.
• CA or CPA qualification.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, able to translate tax concepts into plain English.
• Self‑starter with disciplined, organised work habits suitable for a fully remote environment.
