Senior Systems Administrator

About the role

Avant is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join its Technology team in a hybrid role based in Sydney or Melbourne. Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, you will ensure a secure, resilient and high‑performing enterprise environment across on‑premises, cloud and hybrid platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support enterprise infrastructure across Azure, virtualised and on‑prem environments.
• Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD) and Linux platforms.
• Support VMware, storage, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
• Implement security controls aligned to APRA CPS 230, CPS 234 and industry best practices.
• Drive patching, monitoring, vulnerability management and operational excellence initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Engineering or a similar role.
• Strong troubleshooting, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working in regulated financial services environments and familiarity with APRA compliance frameworks.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to change, release, incident and problem management.
