Senior System Engineer

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join their growing IT team in Perth. The role is ideal for a hands‑on IT professional with strong Microsoft infrastructure experience, a practical understanding of cyber security and compliance, and the ability to support both server and end‑user environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows Server environments.
• Manage and support Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 services.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Install, configure, and support physical and virtual server infrastructure.
• Manage hardware lifecycle activities including servers, workstations, laptops, and networking equipment.
• Monitor system performance, availability, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
• Assist with cyber security initiatives, vulnerability management, patching, and compliance requirements.
• Support security frameworks, policies, and audit activities.
• Provide Level 2/3 technical support and incident resolution.
• Maintain system documentation, procedures, and asset records.
• Assist with network troubleshooting including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years experience in a Systems Administrator or similar infrastructure support role.
• Strong experience with Windows Server administration.
• Experience managing Microsoft Exchange and/or Microsoft 365 environments.
• Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience supporting physical server and end‑user hardware.
• Knowledge of cyber security principles, patch management, and compliance requirements.
• Basic networking skills including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, switching, and firewall concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Competitive salary $110,000 – $130,000 per year plus superannuation.
