Senior System Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to join Cuscal’s Cloud, Data & Infrastructure team. In this position you will design, build and support cloud‑based services that underpin Australia’s payments ecosystem, ensuring reliability, security and performance for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the focal point for corporate, data‑center and cloud infrastructure and security design, covering compute, storage, fabric and monitoring.
• Design, implement and automate cloud‑based services on Cuscal’s cloud platform, meeting business objectives and SLA requirements.
• Develop deployment strategies together with functional and technical teams for new and existing infrastructure and automation solutions.
• Continuously improve performance, stability and security of services and applications through monitoring and automation.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal customers, vendors, outsourced partners and business partners.
• Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in line with defined objectives.
• Provide technical assistance to staff, administrators, service providers and external vendors.
• Supervise system and server administration to ensure service availability for authorized users.
• Participate in a 24x7x365 on‑call roster for network and infrastructure support.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems infrastructure, server support and project delivery.
• At least 5 years as a systems administrator in a mission‑critical environment.
• Proven experience delivering communications or infrastructure projects at a technical level.
• Strong understanding of network and security protocols, best practices and emerging trends.
