Senior System Administrator

About the role

We are looking for a Senior System Administrator to lead the management and coordination of our company’s IT infrastructure across Sydney and Melbourne. The role involves ensuring the reliability, security and performance of our servers, networks, cloud services and end‑user devices.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain approved software, server hardware and operating systems (VMware, Windows and Linux).
• Administer VPN connections between Melbourne and Sydney sites and remote VPN access for staff.
• Implement disaster‑recovery procedures, including backups of laptops and servers.
• Support mobile device connectivity and security for phones and tablets.
• Maintain the existing environment and design, select and build new technologies to deliver business services.
• Prepare and support equipment for office staff and field consultants.
• Monitor system health, capacity and performance for Exchange, VPN, virtualisation, mobile access and internet links.
• Provide first‑line technical support to staff and resolve incidents.
• Manage vendor contracts, software licences and develop IT policies and practices.

Required profile

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Windows Server.
• Experience with VMware virtualization.
• Proficiency in Linux administration.
• Solid understanding of IP networking, VLANs and switching.
• Familiarity with antivirus solutions and backup technologies.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk and Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge of M365 (E5) services.
• Advanced experience managing AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Expertise in security tools (Defender, Carbon Black, Zscaler ZIA/ZPA, Purview, IAM, Threatlocker, Automox).
• Experience with cloud backup solutions and JAMF for macOS management.
• Understanding of compliance and security frameworks.
