Senior Structural Engineer, Buildings

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its Buildings team in Perth. You will be responsible for delivering complex building structures from concept through detailed design and construction support across sectors such as health, education, commercial high‑rise and defence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design packages for a varied portfolio of hospitals, schools, high‑rise towers and defence facilities.
• Collaborate closely with architects and multidisciplinary engineers to develop safe, compliant, and buildable solutions.
• Coordinate with offshore delivery teams, manage interfaces and ensure quality outcomes on time and within budget.
• Conduct design reviews, provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Engage directly with clients and stakeholders, supporting proposals and maintaining strong client relationships.

Required profile

• Demonstrated Australian experience delivering structural designs for hospitals, schools, commercial buildings or defence facilities.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1170, AS 4100, AS 3600, AS 3700, AS 1684) and the NCC.
• Familiarity with AS/NZS 5131 and local construction practices.
• Proven ability to lead structural delivery, coordinate packages and manage project interfaces.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for calculations, reports and approvals.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and working with geographically distributed teams.
