Senior Staff Specialist / Staff Specialist (Surgeon) – Hervey Bay & Maryborough

About the role

Join the Department of Surgery at Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service as a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Surgeon) working across Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals. You will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred surgical care while providing clinical leadership and mentorship to colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional surgical care and ensure services meet the highest clinical standards.
• Assist the Clinical Director (General Surgery) and Director of Medical Services in efficient service delivery.
• Provide education, supervision and mentorship to surgical trainees, medical students, allied health and nursing staff.
• Participate in research and teaching activities to support the development of future health professionals.

Required profile

• Medical qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS General Surgery) or equivalent recognised by the Australian Medical Council.
• Maintenance of CPD and good standing for specialist registration.
• Specialist registrants preferred; non‑specialists or overseas trained specialists may be considered if progressing towards fellowship.
