Senior Staff Specialist – General Medicine

About the role

Provide professional leadership, supervision and education to medical trainees, junior doctors and students while delivering specialist General Medicine services across a growing regional hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Lead patient assessment, admission, ongoing management, transfer and discharge, including emergency care.
• Participate in the 1:3 after‑hours consultant on‑call roster and support NEAT targets.
• Deliver teaching, seminars and contribute to clinical research and academic medicine.
• Promote evidence‑based practice, clinical governance, risk management and continuous quality improvement.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with specialist registration (AHPRA) and FRACP in General Medicine.
• Demonstrated high‑level knowledge in General Medicine and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ongoing professional development.

• Total remuneration up to $572,732 per annum (salary bands $266,839–$282,912 and $223,136–$259,187).
