Senior Solutions Architect

About the role

FinClear is seeking a hands‑on Senior Solutions Architect to design and deliver large‑scale platforms for equities trading, clearing and settlement across Australia. The role can be based in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and combines technical leadership with active coding.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end solutions from enterprise architecture briefs, translating functional and quality requirements into secure, scalable designs.
• Act as technical lead for an engineering team, set direction, break work down, make design decisions and ensure code quality.
• Provide accurate estimates for programme management and coordinate delivery across multiple teams, managing dependencies and interface risk.
• Review code, build prototypes and use AI tooling to accelerate design, documentation and review.
• Participate in Architecture Review Board sessions and help define reference patterns and standards.
• Ensure solutions meet security, performance and regulatory requirements, taking part in security reviews and performance testing.
• Collaborate with vendors and third‑party teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor engineers and testers across teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years building enterprise backend systems in Java or equivalent, with strong experience in microservices, REST, gRPC, event‑driven design and messaging (RabbitMQ, SQS).
• 5+ years building web solutions with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, preferably using React or Next.js.
• At least 2 years as a technical lead or architect responsible for large, multi‑team deliveries.
• Deep hands‑on AWS experience (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS, Route 53) and solid data skills in PostgreSQL, SQL and Redis.
• Proven ability to estimate complex work accurately and manage cross‑team dependencies.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent experience.
