Senior Software Engineer - Unloan (Full Stack)

About the role

Unloan, a fully digital home loan platform backed by CBA, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Platform Team in Melbourne. The team is small and autonomous, focused on solving engineering problems through application code, API integration, infrastructure debugging, security improvements and automation. The role is full-stack, with end-to-end ownership of production software.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and own production software end to end, across applications, APIs, integrations and automation.
• Work across the full stack, from design and development through testing, deployment and production support.
• Integrate distributed systems and use AI-assisted development to build smarter, more automated ways of working.
• Support the platform services that the software depends on, covering cloud, containers, Linux and modern delivery tooling.
• Help modernise CI/CD, automate operational processes and improve the reliability and security of the engineering environment.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background, hands-on with production code.
• Full-stack engineer able to work across front-end, back-end, APIs, services and platform integrations.
• End-to-end ownership, from design and development through deployment, production support and continuous improvement.
• Strong Linux experience, including troubleshooting applications, services and production environments.
• Confident with AI-assisted development, able to build, review, test and safely productionise AI-powered agents and workflows.
• Able to debug complex production issues across application, network and platform layers and automate repetitive operational work.
• Experience across several of the listed technologies; not expected to know everything.

• Linux, TypeScript (essential), Node.js, Python or Go
• RESTful APIs, Kubernetes, Docker and container-based platforms
• Azure (preferred), AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform or Bicep
• Observability, monitoring and operational tooling
• Distributed systems: events, queues, networking, security automation
