Senior Software Engineer – Backend

About the role

Join Qantas at the new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide as a Senior Mobile Back‑End Developer. You will lead the architecture, delivery and development of robust, scalable systems that power seamless digital experiences for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and lead the design and implementation of backend APIs and services.
• Ensure high‑quality, reliable, and secure software that meets performance and privacy standards.
• Collaborate with technical and non‑technical partners to influence product direction.
• Mentor junior developers and promote continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to motivate self and others.
• Test‑and‑learn attitude with curiosity and collaboration.

Required skills

• Kotlin or Java
• Spring Boot
• AWS cloud services
• Git and CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions)
• Observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk
• Multi‑threaded and asynchronous programming
• Server‑driven architecture concepts
