Senior Registered Nurse – Primary Care

About the role

Join the multidisciplinary healthcare team at Acacia Prison to lead primary care services for a population of around 1,500 individuals. This senior nursing position combines clinical expertise with leadership to improve patient outcomes in a unique correctional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee delivery of primary healthcare services, including assessments, care planning and discharge processes.
• Provide clinical guidance, mentorship and support to nursing staff, promoting evidence‑based practice and high standards.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes and support risk assessments and harm‑minimisation strategies.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical policies, procedures and ensure accurate documentation and compliance.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with no restrictions.
• Demonstrated experience in a primary healthcare setting and strong clinical assessment, care planning and problem‑solving skills.
• Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and supporting nursing staff.
• Understanding of evidence‑based practice, clinical governance, relevant legislation and workplace health and safety.
