Senior Project Lead – Defence Engineering

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Senior Project Lead / Project Engineer to drive delivery of CBRN and Counter‑CBRN capabilities for the Australian Defence Force. The role involves leading work packages, coordinating technical inputs and engaging with Defence stakeholders to influence outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate work packages across CBRN capability delivery, acquisition and sustainment.
• Coordinate engineering inputs across requirements, design, integration, verification, acceptance, installation, commissioning and sustainment.
• Develop and maintain project and engineering documentation, including requirements, review material and technical records.
• Support technical and project governance reviews such as SRR, PDR, DDR, TRR and customer forums.
• Identify technical risks, delivery issues and dependencies, and drive recommendations to keep outcomes on track.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading or coordinating technical work packages, project engineering tasks or capability delivery activities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement experience with Defence customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ability to identify risks, manage dependencies and influence practical delivery outcomes.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for NV1 security clearance; may need to meet ITAR requirements.

Required skills

• Systems engineering practices across requirements, design, integration, verification, validation and sustainment.
• Project engineering and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) methodologies.
• Technical documentation and traceability skills.
