Senior Process Engineer

About the role

Coogee, which supplies industrial, agricultural and mineral processing chemicals, is looking for an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join its Queensland Chlor Alkali operations. Reporting to the Plant Manager and part of the Queensland Management Team, the role provides process engineering expertise across plant operations, continuous improvement and capital projects, and supports safe, reliable and sustainable plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide process engineering support and technical leadership across manufacturing operations.
• Lead process safety initiatives and Management of Change (MOC) activities.
• Advise on engineering standards, compliance requirements and industry best practice.
• Coach and mentor engineers and operational staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex process issues.
• Lead capital and operational improvement projects from feasibility through commissioning, developing business cases, scopes, budgets and schedules.
• Manage project teams, contractors, consultants and vendors, monitoring performance against safety, quality, cost and schedule.
• Manage project risks and maintain stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years' engineering experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, mineral processing or other heavy industry.
• Proven track record leading plant improvement and capital projects in a complex industrial environment.
• Legal right to live and work in Australia; recruitment agencies are not involved.

Required skills

• Process engineering principles and process safety management.
• Risk assessment methods such as HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA.
• Project management, contractor and team management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Desirable: chlor-alkali or dangerous goods experience, exposure to Major Hazard Facility regulations, and RPEQ accreditation or eligibility.
