Senior Performance Auditor

About the role

The Audit Office of New South Wales is seeking a Senior Performance Auditor to lead complex performance audit assignments across a wide range of public‑sector portfolios. You will work within a collaborative team to produce high‑quality audit reports that help improve government outcomes for citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure audit work under your responsibility complies with the Office’s methodology, professional standards and relevant legislation.
• Collect, verify and analyse quantitative and qualitative information to build robust audit evidence.
• Develop personal competency and technical proficiency to take on increasingly complex audit assignments.
• Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and communicate findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Financial Audit staff to identify risks and challenges in audit areas.

Required profile

• Significant experience in internal or external audit, policy analysis, implementation, research or evaluation.
• Proven ability to conduct complex research and analytical work to support audit conclusions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on delivering clear, evidence‑based findings.
• Team‑oriented mindset and capacity to work independently on high‑impact projects.
