Senior Payroll Officer

About the role

A permanent senior payroll position supporting weekly and monthly pay cycles across Australia and New Zealand, within a multi‑jurisdictional, multi‑site organisation.

Key responsibilities

• End‑to‑end processing of Australian and New Zealand payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.
• Manage payroll adjustments, employee master data, leave applications, terminations and out‑of‑cycle payments.
• Reconcile payroll outputs, investigate variances and prepare payrolls for approval and payment.
• Handle statutory obligations including PAYG/PAYE, STP, superannuation, KiwiSaver and payroll tax.
• Prepare payroll reconciliations, statutory returns and internal reports for Finance and stakeholders.
• Respond to complex payroll enquiries and provide technical guidance to team members.
• Support internal audits, year‑end activities, system improvements and payroll‑related projects.

Required skills

• Experience with iChris/Chris21 payroll systems (preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills for data reconciliation and analysis.
