Senior Patient Safety Specialist

About the role

AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Patient Safety Specialist to join its Global Patient Safety team in Sydney. This 12‑month contract role supports high‑quality pharmacovigilance and safety science across the product lifecycle, ensuring medicines meet the highest safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert patient safety advice to internal teams and develop Organised Data Collection Programs (ODCPs) for patient access initiatives and market research.
• Guide the identification, flow, and management of safety data to maintain Good Pharmacovigilance Practice (GVP).
• Oversee external program vendors and internal case processing teams, ensuring compliance with adverse event (AE) reporting standards.
• Monitor compliance, collaborate with partners to manage deviations, and drive performance improvements.
• Support local audit and inspection readiness processes as required.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in pharmacovigilance or patient safety within a pharmaceutical company.
• Strong foundation in Good Pharmacovigilance Practice (GVP).
• Experience managing safety requirements for ODCPs, patient programs, or market research activities.
• Proven ability to navigate a cross‑functional matrix and engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders.
