Senior Network Security Engineer (Juniper SRX, Fortigate, F5)

About the role

A major bank in Sydney is looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer with strong hands-on experience on enterprise firewalls (Juniper SRX, Fortigate and F5). The position is an initial 12-month contract, likely to extend, with two days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical consultation to business and technology stakeholders
• Secure the network by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access
• Manage and optimise network and security systems, including installation, upgrades, monitoring and troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup and restore procedures
• Carry out risk assessments and root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes
• Contribute to network design, architecture and capacity planning
• Provide technical consultation and documentation

Required profile

• Recent hands-on experience on next-generation enterprise firewalls (Juniper SRX and Fortigate), covering configuration, build, routing and security policy analysis and compliance
• Experience developing low-level design documents for enterprise security architecture
• Experience designing, building and implementing load balancing (F5 LTM, GTM, APM) and building proxies and authentication profiles
• Enterprise switching and routing configuration experience

Required skills

• Experience with various network tools and some automation
• Desirable: automation and scripting skills such as Python, Ansible and Terraform
