About the role

The Medical Education Unit at Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a Senior Medical Officer - WBA Clinical Lead to join its team on a temporary part-time basis. The position is based in the Mackay region and is advertised by Queensland Health.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service is an organisation providing health services across six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres to a population of around 185,000 people, serving the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday regions. The Medical Education Unit provides accredited educational programs, supervises and monitors clinical performance, and mentors prevocational medical practitioners and international medical graduates, working closely with James Cook University.

The hospital is an accredited provider of the Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) Program, which gives international medical graduates an alternative pathway to AHPRA Generalist Registration through workplace-based assessments. The WBA Clinical Lead provides overall clinical expert advice and manages the MHHS WBA program.

Required profile

• Fixed-term temporary position, part-time, 12-month duration.
• Classification L13-L17 (health-medical).
• Condition of employment: the employee must be and remain vaccinated against vaccine-preventable diseases as listed in the role description.
