Senior Medical Officer – Rural Generalist or Provisional Fellow

About the role

Emerald Hospital, a 25‑bed rural facility in Queensland, is seeking a Senior Medical Officer to join its dynamic team of Rural Generalists. The role offers a blend of acute, maternity and procedural services within a newly rebuilt emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical services across your Scope of Clinical Practice, following Queensland Health policies.
• Participate in emergency retrievals, inter‑hospital transfers and disaster site triage.
• Supervise junior doctors, medical students and other healthcare staff.
• Deliver care in obstetrics, anaesthetics, internal medicine, paediatrics, emergency medicine, palliative care and mental health as needed.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent, eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• FRACGP, FACRRM or demonstrable progress toward ACRRM/RACGP.
• Current ALS, PALS and Neonatal Resuscitation certifications.
• Commitment to ongoing CME/CPD.

• Total remuneration up to $516,598 per annum, including base salary, superannuation and allowances.
