Senior Mechanical Engineer - Wine Process Equipment

About the role

An established engineering company in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and optimisation of process equipment, including filtration and related systems, in a specialised manufacturing environment. The position is permanent and full-time, with relocation support available for English-speaking international candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering projects for equipment such as filtration systems, distillation units and refrigeration solutions.
• Develop and maintain 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using CAD tools.
• Prepare and update process and instrumentation diagrams, design standards and technical documentation.
• Coordinate design reviews to align with control system and safety requirements.
• Define project scope, budget and timeline so milestones are met.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to meet quality and performance standards.
• Support installation, commissioning and equipment handover on site.
• Analyse operational data to improve efficiency and reliability, and work with multidisciplinary teams on automation enhancements.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in mechanical engineering design with 3D CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of process equipment, including filtration, distillation and refrigeration systems.
• Prior leadership experience in a senior engineering role.
• Demonstrated project management and leadership experience.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (minimum visa requirements apply).

What we offer

• Base salary of approximately $110,000 per year, with a total package of about $140,000 to $150,000 including vehicle and fuel expenses and superannuation.
