Senior Mechanical Engineer – Townsville

About the role

Join a high‑performing engineering team in Townsville and lead end‑to‑end mechanical design for a mix of greenfield and brownfield resources projects. You will work across diverse commodities, own complex problem‑solving tasks and see your designs progress from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Take projects from problem definition, business case justification, delivery, commissioning and handover.
• Assist with construction and commissioning, including occasional site‑based work.
• Ensure design outcomes comply with legislation, standards and client requirements.
• Perform mechanical and piping design calculations for bulk material handling, wet‑process and heavy‑industry plants.
• Develop and continuously improve design tools, drawings, datasheets, equipment schedules and models.
• Provide concise updates, reporting and timely escalation of issues.
• Contribute to capital cost estimates, scopes of work and tender proposals when required.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• CPEng / RPEQ qualification (or working towards).
• 7+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Background in a multi‑disciplinary engineering consultancy.
• Significant experience in mining, minerals processing or heavy industry.
• Proven mechanical, materials‑handling and piping design experience.
• Design experience in wet and/or dry mineral processing plants.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes of practice.
• Ability to understand and assimilate project and client specific requirements.
• Self‑motivated, decisive and adaptable to change.
