Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading Australian engineering and technology organisation. Working closely with the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design, development and delivery of specialised mechanical systems for theatre, stage machinery and related entertainment infrastructure from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical designs across concept, detailed design and project delivery phases.
• Produce engineering calculations, technical drawings, specifications and supporting documentation.
• Design robust, compliant, manufacturable and maintainable mechanical systems, including lifting and specialised machinery.
• Support prototype development, testing and validation activities.
• Ensure all deliverables meet quality, safety and performance requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, resolve complex engineering challenges and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior mechanical design engineering roles.
• Strong problem‑solving ability for complex engineering challenges.
• Ability to work across the full project lifecycle in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
