Senior Mechanic (2IC) - Automotive Workshop

About the role

A family-owned automotive business in Geelong, employing a modern workshop with the latest diagnostic technology, is looking for a qualified mechanic with proven leadership experience to step into a 2IC role. The position supports the Workshop Manager and helps lead a high-performing team, combining hands-on technical work with mentoring and supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform minor servicing, major repairs and diagnostic work on a wide variety of vehicles
• Act as 2IC, supporting the Workshop Manager with supervision and workflow management
• Provide leadership and guidance to apprentices and technicians
• Maintain workshop standards, safety practices and quality workmanship
• Contribute to a positive team culture and strong customer service outcomes

Required profile

• Current Motor Mechanic Trade Certificate (Light Vehicle)
• Significant experience as a qualified mechanic across multiple makes and models
• Demonstrated leadership or 2IC experience in an automotive workshop environment

Required skills

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage priorities, communicate effectively and lead by example
