Senior Manager – Transformation

About the role

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) is seeking a senior strategic leader to shape and execute its transformation agenda. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, you will drive high‑impact initiatives that improve performance, customer outcomes and commercial results across the regional aviation business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver VARA’s strategic direction, transformation roadmap and investment priorities.
• Lead cross‑functional strategic initiatives, building robust business cases and financial analyses.
• Oversee governance, portfolio management and benefits realisation to ensure successful delivery.
• Partner with senior leaders across VARA and the Virgin Australia Group to align priorities and deliver cross‑functional outcomes.
• Prepare executive and Board‑level reporting, strategy papers and presentations.
• Champion a strong safety, risk and resilience culture throughout all transformation projects.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Strategy, Finance, Economics, Aviation Management or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience leading strategy, transformation or operational improvement initiatives.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including business case development and investment analysis.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical, communication and executive presentation skills.
• Experience in governance, portfolio management and benefits realisation.
• Collaborative leadership style with a track record of building trusted relationships.
