Senior Manager Media Relations

About the role

The Senior Manager Media Relations will lead ANZ’s media unit, shaping and delivering the group’s media relations strategy to protect and enhance the bank’s reputation across Australian and international media.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a proactive media engagement strategy aligned with corporate and financial communications.
• Maintain and grow relationships with key business reporters, commentators, and act as a senior spokesperson.
• Collaborate with senior executives to deliver the media relations strategy and manage complex media issues.
• Lead communications for major financial announcements, results releases and the annual general meeting.
• Oversee crisis and incident communications, ensuring timely and effective responses.

Required profile

• Proven senior media relations experience in a large listed company, regulated sector, or government.
• Strong understanding of the Australian media landscape across print, online, radio, and television.
• Strategic thinker with business acumen and problem‑solving capability.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience managing communications for financial disclosures and regulatory environments.
• Ability to craft speeches, press releases and other external communications.
• Demonstrated crisis communications leadership.
