Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Join MUJI Australia as a Senior Legal Counsel reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will provide pragmatic legal advice across the Australian retail business, balancing risk and commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts.
• Advise on retail leasing, property, employment and workplace relations matters.
• Manage governance, legal risk and compliance frameworks.
• Oversee disputes, claims and external legal counsel.
• Support new business initiatives, technology and AI governance.

Required profile

• Australian-qualified lawyer with 7+ years’ experience.
• Strong commercial and contract law background, preferably in‑house.
• Retail experience and knowledge of employment, consumer, governance and compliance law.
• Excellent commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and engage senior stakeholders.
