Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering

About the role

The University of Western Australia invites applications for a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering to lead a research program in cardiovascular biomechanics within the Biomedical Engineering@Perkins initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead a high‑impact research program focused on cardiovascular biomechanics and translational biomedical engineering.
• Develop nationally and internationally recognised collaborations across engineering, medicine, healthcare and industry.
• Secure competitive research funding and publish in leading peer‑reviewed journals.
• Supervise HDR, postgraduate, Honours and undergraduate students.
• Deliver innovative teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Biomedical Engineering programs.
• Contribute to curriculum development, student placements, industry engagement and clinical partnerships.

Required profile

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Cardiovascular Biomechanics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong research track record with high‑quality peer‑reviewed publications and successful grant funding.
• Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular biomechanics aligned to translational health applications.
• Experience developing interdisciplinary collaborations with clinicians, healthcare researchers, universities and industry.
• Commitment to teaching excellence, student supervision and inclusive educational practices.

• Generous research start‑up funding for up to three years, including a fully funded PhD scholarship.
• Full‑time tenurable appointment with a salary range of $149,909 – $172,441 per annum (pro‑rata) plus 17% superannuation.
