Senior Industrial Designer

About the role

A Sydney-based industrial design consultancy offers end-to-end services across concept development, engineering, prototyping and manufacturing, working across medical devices, commercial equipment, transport, sports gear, automotive technology and communications. It is seeking a Senior Industrial Designer to take ownership of a range of innovative projects from concept to manufacture, in a collaborative, friendly and stable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product design and development from initial concept through to final production
• Take full ownership of projects from concept to manufacture
• Serve as a subject matter expert, giving strategic guidance to clients and internal project teams
• Ensure all deliverables meet the company's quality management standards
• Estimate current and future workloads to support planning and resource allocation
• Carry out technical reviews of designs and documentation to maintain high engineering standards
• Act as the primary technical contact for clients and project managers
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, systems and documentation

Required profile

• Circa 10 years' professional experience in industrial or product design
• Degree in Industrial Design or a related discipline
• Strong capabilities in product design and development
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and bringing products to market
• Proficiency in design thinking and creative problem-solving
• Solid project management and organisational abilities
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work in team environments
• Full, unrestricted and ongoing rights to work in Australia

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
• Other design tools
